Robert Baldwin – City Manager in Dania Beach, FL

An accomplished local government manager with experience in both large and small cities, Robert Baldwin currently serves as City Manager of the City of Dania Beach, Florida, the oldest city in Broward County. Prior to assuming his present position in 2009, he was City Manager of the City of Lake Worth, Florida. During Robert Baldwin’s two-year tenure, he oversaw reforms in Lake Worth in several key areas, including budgeting, staffing, and organizational structure.

Before taking on his position with the City of Lake Worth, Baldwin held several local government posts for Florida cities ranging in population from 6,000 to 1.3 million. From 1995 to 2007, he was Town Manager of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where he implemented reforms to the financial and administrative systems to help the town recover from a budget deficit. Some of his other notable positions include Director of the Department of Administration for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Assistant City Manager of the City of Hollywood, Interim City Administrator and Finance Director for the City of Sunrise, and Assistant City Manager for the City of Fort Lauderdale.

An active member of his professional community, this dedicated public servant participates in several organizations, including the International City Management Association, the Governmental Finance Officers Association, the Florida City/County Management Association, and the Broward City/County Management Association.

Robert Baldwin holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida , where he majored in history and took courses in business administration and secondary education. He additionally holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the same institution, and concentrated his studies on city management and budgeting. His background and experience are the basis for his superior problem-solving and strategic planning skills that have improved and enhanced cities such as Lake Worth and Dania Beach.
